In 1793, French scientist Antoine Francois from France first saw positive therapeutic effects by injecting natural substances subcutaneously. Later in 1952, Michel Pistor coined the term Mesotherapy and the French Society of Mesotherapy was created shortly after. Today, Mesotherapy has variable uses from reducing inflammation to repairing connective tissues in joints. At our clinic, we use different combinations of homeopathic solutions and procaine to help with joint and muscle pain. Speak to our qualified Naturopathic Doctors to see if Mesotherapy is right for you!
As the level of insurance coverage varies from company to company, treatments may or may not be covered. Please check with your insurance provider prior to booking.
Does Mesotherapy hurt?
Mesotherapy injections are injected into the mesoderm layer of the skin, hence these are very superficial 1 to 4 millimeter injections. They do not hurt since we incorporate Procaine (a local anesthetic) into the solution. Most patients would rate the pain rating to be a 1 to 2 out of 10 with 10 being very painful. A topical anesthetic cream can also be applied ahead of time upon request.
How many Mesotherapy treatments do I need?
Generally, we recommend a series of 4 Mesotherapy injections at 1 week intervals to start with subsequent treatments spaced out at 2 to 4 week intervals for a few times. Patients with chronic pain can opt for monthly injections as well. All treatment plans will be discussed between you and your Naturopathic Doctor.
What are the side effects of Mesotherapy?
Because this is an all-natural injection containing nutrients and homeopathics, the chances of reaction to the solution is very low. However, on rare cases, patients may have a hypersensitivity reaction with hives, itchiness and swelling; in which case taking a Benadryl will help. The most common side effects are pain at injection site, bruising, and possible healing reactions where you feel worse before you feel better.
How much does Mesotherapy cost?
The initial visit is 60 minutes in duration and cost $220 plus the cost of mesotherapy injections. Our Naturopathic Doctors will examine your pain site, assess it and go over the treatment with you. If indicated and appropriate, you will receive your first Mesotherapy treatment immediately following the initial assessment. The follow-up visits are 15 to 30 minutes in duration where our Naturopathic Doctors will examine your pain site and administer the solution.
